Mayor Currey Hosts a "Green Day" Energy Saving Lighting Fair and promotes the benefits of recycling.

East Hartford, September 4, 2007 - Mayor Melody Currey announced today that on Thursday, September 13, 2007, she is hosting an Energy Saving Lighting Sale between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 pm in the Town Hall Atrium, 740 Main Street, East Hartford. Mayor Currey is encouraging all residents and local business owners to take advantage of the energy saving lighting products that will be available for purchase at significantly reduced prices. Connecticut Light and Power and the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund offer the program to help residents save energy and reduce electric costs. The Mayor is also going to provide information on the benefits of recycling appropriate products through the Town's recycling program.

Mayor Currey stated, "The Energy Savings Lighting Fair and the Recycling program information will help form "Green Day" in East Hartford and give residents the opportunity to purchase energy efficient light bulbs and fixtures at subsidized prices, as well as learn the benefit of participating in the Town's recycling program."

The energy efficient light bulbs, called CFLS, use 75% less energy and last up to ten times as long as standard incandescent bulbs. Techniart, the lighting Fair vendor, will offer several wattages and styles of CFLs starting at only $1.00.

The Mayor's "Green Day' Lighting Fair will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007, from 10 am to 6pm in the Town Hall atrium located at 740 Main Street in East Hartford. All residents, Town and Board of Education employees are invited to attend and save on energy costs.
