Excellence in Economic Development Awards honor Local business owners at our 92nd Annual Meeting.

On June 19 we held our 92nd Annual Meeting at Sheraton. The meeting addressed Elliot Ginsberg, President and CEO of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technologies, who discussed the role the Center can play in the development of our town, and his vision for the future of East Hartford, and the state.

During the event we also honored three local business owners whose investment in their properties beautified our town. The three winners are Jem Abbassah, of Allstate Insurance Co., Michael DiRosa, of DiRosa Cleaners, and Skip Gengras, of Gengras Volvo. Jack Matthews of Goodwin College received the Volunteer of  2007 award, for his work for the successful "Kiss-A-Pig" event we held in December.

The meeting closed our new president Daniel Rys, of NewAllience Bank, who replaces at the helm of the chamber Martin D'Eramo of Pratt and Whitney.

2007 EHCOC Golf Outing was a great success!

The 2007 East Hartford Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing was a great success. More than 100 golfers and their friends enjoyed a perfect summer day, the beautiful greens of the East Hartford Golf Club, and a lot of networking.

A Meeting that may change the face of downtown East Hartford held at Goodwin College lobby.

A meeting on how to curb downtown traffic congestion, noise, and pollution was held on April 21, at the Goodwin college lobby, on Main Street. Mayor Melody Currey and members of various town boards and committees heard urban  engineers Dan Burden and Najib Habesh discuss how a redesign of the traffic flow around our town's center can, both, improve traffic throughput, and create a better living environment for our residents.
